COVID-19 Policy and Procedures

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have placed the following Policy and Procedures in place. These policies are being done in sailing centers across the nation and suggestions are coming from our sports governing body US Sailing.

  • Cleaning

    • Wipe down all highly touched surfaces with a cleaning solution (including tillers, sheets, life jackets, dolly handles, main contact points on boats, clipboards, and pens.

    • Handwashing/ Hand sanitizing stations will be provided.

  • Face Coverings

    • Masks are to be worn by all participants and staff/volunteers on land.

    • Masks are to be taken off while on the water.

    • We suggest participants bring their own mask but we will provide surgical masks if needed.

  • Participation

    • People who are sick, are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, have a fever of 100.4℉ or higher, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19 in the past 14 days are asked to stay home.

      • Staff, student, and volunteer temperatures will be checked using a no-touch infrared thermometer upon arrival. If the person’s temperature is 100.4℉ or higher they will be asked to leave.

      • Participants are asked to stay 6 ft away from each other.

    • Partnering/ Groups

      • People will be sailing alone in a boat unless specifically in a group together.

      • Groups will be allowed with Group Request Form.

      • If someone in your group gets sick, you will get tested or self quarantine for 14 days.

  • Outbreak

    • If someone in the Chesapeake Experience was to get sick with COVID-19, we will inform all participants.

    • We will suggest anyone with direct contact (which we will know though direct contact tracing) get tested or self quarantine.

    • Staff/Volunteers will get tested immediately.
